The terms Lycra®
and Spandex refer to the same elastic fiber. Lycra®
is Dupont's trade name for Spandex and it has become commonly used to refer to
many stretch knits containing Spandex.
This swatch set includes Spandex, Supplex and Hi
Tech Supplex Lycra®
in solid colors. They are considered Tricot knits, that is, having equal stretch
in both lengthwise and crosswise directions. However, because Tricot knits may
vary, it is important to determine if there is a direction of greater stretch
and have that greater stretch go around your body, legs and arms. The lengthwise
grain (selvage) runs the 5" length of the samples in this swatch set.
Spandex Solids
Tricot Knits are usually smooth, shiny
and very stretchy. Use for tights leotards, swimsuits, active wear, trim for
socks and Polartec garments.
"Matte" refers to the flat, non shiny finish on some of our Spandex Solids.
Matte finish Spandex Solids are smooth and stretchy, but not shiny.
Machine wash cold - Line dry - Do not bleach.

Fiber Characteristics

(resilient) as those based on natural fibers.
Softness - According to flexural rigidity
testing, TACTEL®
fiber is at least twice as soft as most other fibers.
Lightweight - Fabrics made with TACTEL®
fiber are a least 20% lighter than most other fabrics for the same cover
value.
Easy care - TACTEL®
fiber dries 8 times faster than cotton.
